Bandits have stormed the Federal Government Girls College Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State and abducted at least 30 students.

A resident of the community, Bulama Bukarti@bulamabukarti· reports that “Another mass kidnapping at Federal Govt College BirninYauri, Kebbi State. Dozens of terrorists overpowered the 21 policemen in the school and loaded dozens of students onto their vehicles and the police van they seized. This is the 3rd mass kidnapping of students in three weeks.”

Another report said that the mobile policemen guarding the school was killed before the students are taken away.

The attackers who rode on motorbikes were said to have stormed the school from neighbouring Rijau forest in the early hours of Thursday.

Initial reports from security sources say that least 30 students and three teachers were abducted, but the number may be more.

This attack is the 3rd mass abduction within 3 weeks.

The lawmaker representing Ngaski/Shanga/Yauri Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Yusuf Tanko Sununu has confirmed the abduction of the students saying that some teachers were also taken.

Speaking to newsmen at the National Assembly, he said that the number of abductees is yet to be specified. he also called the Buhari-led administration and security agencies to ensure the speedy release of the captives.
