A video has emerged showing a group of frightened bank workers fleeing a group of angry customers in Edo State.
The workers were said to have reported for work in the morning for the day’s business when some of their customers began screaming for cash.
Eyewitnesses say that some of the customers were at the Automated Teller Machines (ATM) but the devices did not dispense cash.
Others that came as early as 5:00am were also told they could not get cash as the branch had none to issue.
From the logo on the bag carried by a senior member of staff, It is likely to be a branch of Zenith Bank.
The irate customers threatened a showdown as more and more people arrived. Unable to contain the mob, the bank manager and security personnel advised all members of staff to lock up sensitive parts of the premises and escape through the back door.
The barbed wire on the backyard fence was also lowered to enable easy exit. Both men and women were then seen scaling the 7-foot-high fence with the help of a weak ladder.
