The tragic news of the kidnapping and subsequent m*rder of Nigerian banker Ifeoma Esther Onyekwelu has sent shockwaves through the nation.

The horrifying aspect of the incident is that a ransom was paid to her abductors, who still still cruelly ended her life.

According to reports, Ifeoma Onyekwelu was abducted in Onitsha, where she worked as a banker. Originally from Agulu in Anambra State, her lifeless body was later discovered dumped by the roadside in Ideani, also in Anambra State.

The disturbing images and videos circulating the social media have ignited widespread outrage and demands for an end to the escalating violence and kidnappings plaguing the country.


The frequency of kidnappings in Nigeria is alarming, with new cases emerging daily. There are growing concerns that the government is either overwhelmed or insufficiently equipped to address the nation’s worsening security situation.

Proposals for engaging external security mercenaries have been debated, but no conclusive solutions have emerged.

Ifeoma’s burial is scheduled for Saturday, February 1st, 2025. Images from her funeral have been shared on social media, with friends and family urging the government to deliver justice for her.

She is survived by her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles, and aunts.
