A 29-year-old beautiful Nigerian graduate now sells fufu as a result of unemployment.
Ebitonye Michael got her first degree from the Niger Delta University, Ammasoma, (NDU).
The single mother of 1 who is an indigene of Biogbolo-Epie in Yenegoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State urged youths not to wait for jobs but rather, create the jobs and employ others.
She added that her mother influenced her to to start the business after waiting endlessly to get a job.
According to the graduate fufu seller, “Many people believe selling fufu is a business meant exclusively for old women. They also think it makes one dirty and smelly. But what many do not know is that selling fufu could be lucrative.
“My mother who’s farmer trained all her children how to prepare fufu and built her 2 houses with proceeds from her fufu business.
“When I finished my NYSC, I was teaching and earning 20,000 Naira at the end of the month. The money is normally budgeted even before it comes.
“My mum then advised me to also sell fufu since I know how to process it. So I agreed with her idea.“
Ebitonye said she refused to be bothered by the derogatory remarks she gets because of her business as long as it foots her bills.
In her words, “People talk down on my fufu business a lot, but I don’t allow that to bother me as long as it’s giving me cool cash and I’m not begging. Am okay ! I also learn to keep myself clean after processing my fufu.
The gorgeous graduate added that she plans “to own a fufu processing industry that will employ people” as the only challenge she currently faces is her inability to get the processing machine.
