Beneficiaries of covid19 palliative will not be published by the Federal government.
The position was made known by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq.
According to to her, it is unethical to publish the names of people who benefit from such government measures.
She said this during her briefing at the covid19 Presidential Task Force meeting on 29th April. According to her, it is not proper to do someone a favour and make it public afterwards, In her words, it is against “human dignity.”
Sadiya_farouq also explained that government is doing everything possible to make the lockdown conducive adding that her Ministry was given 70,000 metric tonnes of grains. Out of that number, 9,320 metric tonnes have been shared to 3 states.
Unfortunately, sost of the grains shared to some states were, rejected due to the poor condition of the food items. Some state governors cited weavles and moulds in the grains given.
Expectedly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party insists that the federal government make public the names of beneficiaries of covid19 palliatives and other measures.
PDP cites insincerity in the disbursements.
