Best Graduating Student of LASU Honoured with N2 Million Plus a House

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has honoured the 2020 best graduating student of the Lagos State University (LASU), Oladimeji Shotunde, with a 2-bedroom bungalow and N2 million.

The Governor made the announcement during the celebration of Ogun academic laureates 2021 held at the Oba’s Complex in Abeokuta on Thursday, 22nd of April 2021.

Oladimeji Shotunde is the 22-year-old son of a mechanic. He broke the university’s 37-year record ro emerge as the overall Best Graduating Student of the 2019/2020 academic session.

He pulled the highest CGPA of 4.95, the first ever in the University’s entire history.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that Governor Abiodun also honoured Ademola Adeeko of Baptist High School, Abeokuta, winner of the 2020 African Union Continental Teachers’ Award, with a 2-bedroom bungalow.

The Governor announced that the state government would also set up an education endowment fund for Faith Odunsi of the Ambassador College, Ota, Ogun State.

According to Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun – MFR@dabiodunMFR· “The fund, which is seeded with 5million Naira and subsequent, voluntary donations from the private sector.

Odunsi is the winner of the Global Mathematics Tournament.

· “Mr Oladimeji Shotunde too, an indigene of Ogun State who recently emerged Best Graduating Student of the Lagos State University, was awarded a 2-bedroom bungalow and a 2million Naira cash prize.

“As I presented these prizes to them and other outstanding students and their teachers, I pledged the unwavering support of our Government to excellence in conduct and academics. #BuildingOurFutureTogether #ISEYA #OgunState

In his response, Oladimeji Shotunde, EFRN.@Dimeji_Shotunde· said that, “I was today, awarded by the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, MFR. This recognition was premised on how I was able to project Ogun State in positive light as an indigene, specifically in the area of academics.
