A popular cleric identified as Bishop Timothy Otu, who is also the General Overseer of Agape Evangelical Ministries, has been arrested by officers of the Abia State Police Command.
He was nabbed after a married woman, who is also an evangelist was found dead in a hotel room in Aba, Abia State where they both lodged.
The married evangelist, Happiness Echezie is said to be a mother of 5.
The Bishop and the evangelist checked into the hotel located at Ogbor hill in Aba, Abia State on Saturday, 11th August, 2023.
Reports say that the cleric escaped from the hotel after his lover died. He lied to the receptionist that he wanted to go buy food, but the hotel manager suspected foul play and immediately reported the matter to the Eastern Ngwa Police Station in Obingwa Local Government Area around around 1:00am on Sunday morning.
When the police came to the hotel, the woman was found lying naked in the hotel room with a foamy substance on her mouth and nose.
A video of the Bishop preaching about repentance emerged and went viral soon after.
He was said to have been oblivious of the discovery at the time he mounted the pulpit.
