A book has allegedly been launched by the Tinubu Dynasty of Kakawa Street where they denounced the former Lagos State Governor and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a biological member of the family.
The controversy surrounding the paternity of the popular politician was renewed on Monday by a number of online news platforms as members of the Tinubu family in Lagos allegedly confirmed that he had no genealogical relationship with them.
The information is contained in a book titled, “Onijumu Wura; the Tinubu dynasty of Kakawa Street, ” which was launched in Lagos.
Bola Tinubu had earlier traced his family roots to the popular Tinubu family of Lagos, but critics continue to debunk the claim, insisting he is from Iragbiji in Osun State.
A section of the Tinubu family, apparently worried by the controversy this had generated in the state, decided to write the book that chronicled the descendants of the family which did not include Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The author of the book, Mr. Rafiu Babatunde Tinubu, who is also a former Head of Service in Lagos state, insisted that “all members of their that bear the name must have biological relationship with the cleric, the late Alfa Muhammed Bugara Tinubu.”
Mr Rafiu Tinubu said, with the book, the family needed to put the record straight for posterity.
He added the decision to publish the book was to ensure that the name of the family was not polluted.
“Hence, the research into the origin and place of the family became a prominent agenda that kept reverberating at every meeting of the family.”
“…I was mandated by the family at its meeting sometime in 1982 under the chairmanship of Papa R.B. King to research into the evolution of the Tinubu family in Lagos in view of my antecedents as a lecturer at the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University.”
The details were first made public on August 21, 2007 in AllAfrica online news platform but was debunked at that time by the Special Adviser on Media to Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He dismissed the book as “the handiwork of a mischief makers and said the controversial book was commissioned by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State as a diversionary tactics to cover their shameful defeat in the last general election.“
The information was once again, unearthed by The Express in a publication on Wednesday, July 21 amid the appearance of alleged hired clerics at the unveiling of the presidential candidate’s running mate, Kashim Shettima.
