Bomb Blast in Katsina Kills 5 Siblings

A thunderous bomb blast in Yammama Village in the Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State has killed 5 siblings.

The bomb which went off this morning also claimed the life of at least 1 other person. Other casualties are 5 other people who are currently in critical conditions at the Malumfashi General Hospital.

The deceased persons reportedly stepped on an improvised Explosive Devise (IED) planted in a farmland in the community.

The bomb blast occurred as the eleven people went in search of grass to feed their pasture. The incident has been confirmed by the spokesperson for Katsina State Police Command, Superintendent of Police (SP) Gambo Isah.

However, Isah said that the number of dead persons is 5 with 6 injured. Her added that investigations are ongoing to unravel details of the incident.

According to him, “At about 11:30 hours, DPO Malumfashi reported that a loud sound was heard inside the farm of one Alhaji Hussaini Mai Kwai. 

“On receipt of the information, the DPO led Operation Puff Adder to the scene where there was a suspected case of bomb blast which killed five young children of one Alhaji Adamu of Yammawa village, Malumfashi LGA of Katsina State.

“The injured children have been evacuated to Malumfashi General Hospital for treatment.

“The scene has been preserved while detectives from the EOD and CID are presently conducting their investigations,” the police spokesman said
