Former Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad has debunked reports that a bomb exploded in a Primary School in Kano this morning.
There was chaos in the early hours of Tuesday at Aba Road in the Sabon Gari area of Kano State after a loud explosion was heard in the area.
One person was confirmed dead while several others reportedly sustained various degrees of injuries.
A video taken at the scene of the tragedy shows that the blast affected a building with at least one gravely mutilated corpse littered on the road.
The number of casualties is still not known, but many people are said to be affected.
Equally not clear is the fact that one of the buildings housed a school. However, the visuals showed several injured pupils and other school children being moved away from the scene of the disaster.
In his reaction to the incident, Bashir Ahmad took to his Twitter account to note that the incident was a gas explosion and not a bomb explosion as claimed in reports.
Bashir Ahmad “The unfortunate incident in Kano was a gas explosion not a bomb blast, the Kano State Police Commissioner has confirmed.”
