Boris Johnson Engaged, Expecting a Baby

News - Women's Perspective

Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister got engaged to 31-year old girlfriend, Carrie Symonds in December 2019. British tabloids report that they are expecting their first baby together.

According to Mirror.co, a British online news media, an early summer birth would suggest the new arrival was conceived during the Autumn, around the time that the October 31 Brexit deadline was extended.

Soon to be married

Ms Symonds posted the announcement to her friends and family who may not have heard about the new development:

I wouldn’t normally post this kind of thing on here, but I wanted my friends to find out from me.

Many of you already know, but for my friends that still don’t, we got engaged at the end of last year, and we’ve got a baby hatching early summer. Feel incredibly blessed.”

The Mirror.co also reports that Johnson is very likely to be the first prime minister to get divorced and marry in office in modern times. The last PM to do so was Augustus Henry FitzRoy, the 3rd Duke of Grafton, who became prime minister in 1768 and got divorced and remarried the following year.

In addition, Boris Johnson and Symonds will be the first to have a child in office since David and Samantha Cameron gave birth to their daughter, Florence.

Johnson, 55, had four children, Lara, Milo, Cassie and Theodore – all adults now – with his estranged spouse Marina Wheeler. His fifth child was a love child who was conceived during an affair with art consultant and property developer Helen Macintyre.

He however made a joke in a Twitter post that points to him not being sure of the number of children he has:

Carrie Symonds is delighted to be expecting her first baby and I am delighted to be expecting my… erm… latest one.” #BorisBaby
