Sandra Eze, also known as Sanzye has revealed how “Bourdillon” ordered her sack from TVC
Popular high brow Bourdillon Street, Ikoyi is the are of Lagos where the home of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is located.
The chieftain is also fingered as the owner of TVC also in Lagos.
Sandra Eze was the co-host of ‘#YourView’, a breakfast show. She has revealed how she was sacked in a series of Instagram posts on Friday.
According to her, she was profiled and punished for walking out during a discussion bordering on the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu.
The monarch had threatened to drown the Igbo residents of Lagos ahead of the 2015 governorship election that was won by Akinwumi Ambode.
Sandra’s producer was not on duty to switch her with someone else when call-in listeners got emotional about the topic.
She said that one of the callers said unpleasant things about the Igbos that made her uncomfortable.
The broadcast journalist said presenters had been warned not to discuss the matter at that time even if it was trending massively on all news platforms.
She recused herself from her last show at the TV station when a listener, Hassan, called in to discuss it.
According to her, it hurt to hear public comments as it bordered on Igbos, a section of the country where she hails from.
She said she walked out of the live show to maintain her sanity and not say something that could cost the broadcast station any sanctions.
“I went home, locked myself and cried. Then I rehearsed my apology and showed up to work the next morning.
That morning, according to her, her boss, Morayo Afolabi-Brown told her that a call came from Bourdillon that her services were no longer required.
She added that she took a walk with the hope that her co-host would cover up for her. Her apology to the broadcast station did little to save her job.
According to her, “I did not leave #YourViewTVC because I was indisciplined and I couldn’t take it.
“I did not leave because I had attitude issues, or I was headstrong and refusing to take advise (really ? wow !)
“Nor did I leave because I wanted to focus solely on acting. ‘#YourView’ had a flexible schedule…that was a cover up.”
“I walked out during a live show, a call came from Bourdillon and asked that I be suspended indefinitely. That’s the summary.”
Describing how she felt after being unceremoniously laid off and how she got back on her feet, Sandra said that:
“I never quite understood what it was I did, who did I insult unconsciously, I never got a memo, never faced HR… what did I do wrong? Put me before a panel…anything. Just tell me what it was plainly, no assumptions. I wasn’t the first to be suspended. There was Tope and then Jumoke, why was mine different?
“Why would someone sit in Bourdillon (as I was told) and play my life, my career, my emotions like badminton. I may not know anyone in high places but I am a respectful young woman and I will be respected.
“I waved the show goodbye and patiently waited for my face to leave that montage. Seeing my face on that tune made me sick. It took a painful long wait but a new montage was made and I rested. It was Official. Goodbye Your View and TVC.
“I took my time because I wanted to be sure I had flushed yesterday’s anger.
Writing with anger would ruin my purpose.
I don’t know what will happen after this but I feel free and light.
“Dearest Holy Spirit, We did it! Thank you for the boldness! Hi5 buddy! 🤗❤❤🤗
“Thank you everyone who genuinely cared and encouraged me, may God provide people who would urge you on in love, and stand by you when you need it the most. You are priceless! 🤗
“This picture was taken before the show that morning, little did I know…“
