News monitored on the official websites of President Muhammadu Buhari’s pages say he has declared Zamfara State a ‘No fly zone.’
He also banned all mining activities in the area until further notice.
The National Security Adviser (NSO) retired Major General Babagana Monguno revealed this to newsmen after a meeting of the National Security Council today, March 2nd.
The meeting which held at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja was presided over by the President.
According to him, “The President has approved, based on our recommendations, he imposition and enforcement of a ban on all mining activities in Zamfara with immediate effect until further notice.
“He has directed the Minister of Defence and the National Security Adviser to deploy massive military and intelligence assets to restore normalcy to that part of the country.
“He has also approved that Zamfara State should be declared a ‘no fly zone’ with immediate effect.
Monguno added that President Muhammadu Buhari has also directed all security agents to apprehend anyone harassing or causing trouble for innocent citizens in Zamfara and everywhere across the country.
According to him, some trouble makers have been placed under surveillance by intelligence agencies.
