Reports just received say that gunmen have kidnapped the Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Apostle Emmanuel Bako and wife, Cindy in Kaduna State.
A yet to be identified person was also taken away with the couple. All three were snatched on Christmas Day in Jema’a Local Government Area of the state.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Home Affairs and Security confirmed this in a statement on Saturday.
Aruwan said that the unknown gunmen attacked the Albarka Praying Camp along the Afana-Fadan Kagoma-Kwoi Road, shooting sporadically.
A vehicle was hit by the bullets while the PFN Chairman, his wife and a church member were taken away from the camp.
The Commissioner added that security operatives gave the kidnappers a hot chase but they were able to escape with their victims.
Rev John Joseph Hayab, PFN Kaduna State Chapter Chairman regretted that such an incident would occur on a day like Christmas which is synonymous with peace and joy.
Hayab described Apostle Bako as a strong member of the Jema’a network, a father to many, a front runner of peace, justice and unity in Southern Kaduna.
He called on security agencies to ensure the speedy release of the victims from captivity.
Hayab lamented that the church has had enough of endless kidnapping of its members and paying ransoms to secure their release.
