General Ibrahim Attahiru, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff has died in a plane crash.
Details of the accident are not yet known but a military spokesperson said it happened in Kaduna on Friday.
The Nigerian Airforce confirmed that the crash involved one of its aircrafts in Kaduna but declined to give details.
The source said that, “An air crash involving the @NigAirforce occurred this evening near Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More Details to follow soon.”
A communique by the Edward Garbwert, the Airforce Director of Public Relations and Information said that,
A report said the COAS was on his way to Kaduna ahead of Saturday’s passing out parade of soldiers from the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria.
