A former Acting Governor of Delta State and General Overseer of Oracle of God Ministry, Sam Obi is dead.
Reports say that the former governor was last seen on Wednesday, 31st of March at the annual Maris Trust Council Lecture which held at the Unity Hall in Government House, Asaba.
He is said to have died in the early hours of today, Saturday, 3rd of April after a brief illness at his residence in Asaba.
Late Sam Obi became Governor in acting capacity after he was sworn-in in November 2020. This followed the nullification of the election of the then Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan by the Appeal Court sitting in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Prior to his swearing in, he was the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly following the impeachment of the former Speaker, Martin Okonta.
Obi was the state lawmaker representing Isa North-East for there consecutive terms.
A renowned pentecostal preacher, Late Sam Obi founded the Oracle of God Ministries with headquarters in Asaba.
His remains are said to have been deposited in a mortuary in Asaba pending burial arrangements by the family.
