The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, on Wednesday afternoon undertook a major cabinet reshuffle in which he sacked 20 out of 28 commissioners
The 8 commissioners that were spared are those of Health, Youth, Sports, Tourism, Information and Strategy, Women Affairs, Works, Finance, Technology.
There were reports 2 weeks ago that the governor alleged he had moles in his cabinet who were sabotaging his administration.
The latest exercise comes barely one month after he reshuffled his cabinet and appointed new Finance and Health Commissioners.
The sacked commissioners expressed shock at considering that they did not see it coming.
Indeed, they were in their various offices on Wednesday afternoon when they got the news. The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nwachukwu Oguwike confirmed the development to newsmen saying the Governor wished the affected commissioners well in their future endeavours.
According to him, “The news is correct. 20 commissioners were affected while 8 were not affected. The reason is to infuse new blood and add more value to the governance system of the state.”
Imo State has witnessed many daring security breaches recently with allegations of the Indigenous People of Biafra being behind the incidences.
