Images just received show that armed security operatives have besieged the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos.
The park is the proposed venue for today’s Yoruba Nation rally by the leaders and agitators.
The Lagos State Police Commissioner was sited at the venue coordinating his men with several patrol vans, heavy anti-riot gun trucks and Black Marias positioned at strategic points.
There was also a heavy presence of Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), soldiers attached to OP MESSA, as well as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence at the park.
At the time of filing this this report, scores of youths who appear to be waiting for public transport were seen at Ojota Park while vehicular movement and normal business activities went on as usual.
The Nigeria police force had on Friday, embarked on a show of force in Lagos to warn Yoruba Nation separatists against any form of rally scheduled to hold in Nigeria’s commercial capital today.
The state police command warned that anyone caught participating in the Yoruba Nation rally will be prosecuted.
