The Senate of the University of Lagos today, 13th August rejected the the appointment of Professor Theophilus Omololu Soyombo as its acting Vice-Chancellor.
Prof Soyombo was a lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences with a PHD from the University of Essex, England.
His new appointment was announced yesterday, Wednesday night by the Governing Council of the University headed by the Pro-Chancellor, Dr Wale Babalakin.
A renowned Consultant Consultant sociologist, he immediately accepted his appointment describing it as a call to service.
While announcing the appointment, the Registrar and secretary to the Governing Council, Azeez Oladejo refuted the assertions by the sacked VC that he remains the substantive Vice-Chancellor.
On his part, the Registrar insisted that as the custodian of the minutes of all meetings of the Council and official documents of the university, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe was indeed gone forever.
