Britain’s 90-year-old grandmother, Margaret Keenan is the first person in Europe to receive the government approved covid19 vaccine.
The medication developed by Pfizer-BioNTech is seen across Europe and America as the most effective inoculation against the killer disease.
Magaret says the vaccine is the “best early birthday present” as she turns 91 in about a week.
The retired jewellery shop worker, mother of 2 and 4 grandchildren encouraged everyone to take it as well.
According to her, “My advise to anyone offered the vaccine is to take it. If I can have it at 90, then you can have it too.”
She added the “I feel so privileged to be the first person to be vaccinated against #COVID19.
It is on record that Britain is the first the country to approve the vaccine considering it is also one of the countries most devastated by the pandemic.
Out of its over 1.6 million cases, Britain recorded 61,000 deaths while the disease claimed the lives of over 1.5 million worldwide.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine jab was administered to Keenan at Coventry, England followed by an elderly man identified as William Shakespeare.
Nurse May Parsons, from the Philippines who has a 23-year experience with Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) administered the vaccination.
There are indications that 94-year-old Queen Elizabeth II is one of those first in line to be inoculated because of her age.
The aim is also to use her case to ramp up public awareness and compliance with the exercise across all the 4 nations that make up the UK. They include; England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island.
