Civil rights advocate and former Senator from Kaduna State, Shehu Sani, expressed sympathy for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the incoming president of Nigeria.
He stated this during an interview with Arise News, claiming that President Muhammadu Buhari’s last-minute borrowing, contract awards, and other actions, were a trap for the former governor of Lagos.
Senator Sani criticized President Muhammadu Buhari’s last-minute participation, in an interview with Arise Television. He claimed that, Buhari did not make appointments when he first took office, but did so because, he felt it was appropriate given that, Tinubu would succeed him. He criticized the President, for doing more to burden Nigerians with debt, than to improve the lives of his constituents.
When they should be closing up, and preparing to transfer the presidency, over to a candidate from their party, Sani had observed, “They seem to be doing things, that they ought to have done many years or many months ago.
“You can observe them granting contracts for billions of Naira, at this very moment. They are also looking for loans from abroad, making appointments, and engaging in a variety of other activities. To me, these actions indicate that, the President-elect is being put in danger. I feel bad for the new president, I have to admit.“
The actions of President Buhari, according to Sani, are a trap for the incoming president. The former governor of Lagos state, would inherit debt, insecurity, economic instability, and other problems, he expressed sympathy for him. But he did so while insisting that, Tinubu should look into the Buhari administration in order to restart things.
