President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday reacted to the outcome of the Ekiti State Governorship election which held on Saturday.
He said it shows that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is getting better.
Speaking while hosting the Ekiti State Governor-Elect, Biodun Oyebanji, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the president noted that he was lucky during the governorship election.
Oyebanji was led by the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, Governors Kayode Fayemi, Atiku Bagudu, Mohammed Badaru of Ekiti, Kebbi and Jigawa, respectively.
The president expressed his pleasure over how the APC governors mobilised and supported Biodun Oyebanji and the manner in which the electorate and security agencies comported themselves.
Buhari said: “I loved how the APC Governors mobilized, and supported you. I think the party is very lucky, and things are getting better. I congratulate the Chairman, and I pray you sustain it.”
On his part, Chairman of the Campaign Council for Ekiti, Badaru said the unending effort of the president to reposition the party is paying off, noting that the APC beat the opposition parties by a wide margin.
In his words: “Your unending effort to reposition the party is paying off. If we combine the votes of the candidates that came second and third, our candidate still beat them by a wide margin. APC is being daily endeared to Nigerians. Our gratitude goes to you, Mr President.”
