Buhari Travels to Hometown, Mourns Loss of Close Family Member

President Muhammadu Buhari has traveled to his home town, Daura following the death of his niece, Hajiya Laraba Dauda.

The President arrived Katsina on Wednesday night to mourn with his other family members.

The Presidential jet touched down at about 8pm at the Umaru Musa Yar A’dua International Airport and the President was thereafter escorted to board a chopper to Daura.

At the airport to receive him were the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, some of his cabinet members as well as heads of security outfits in the state.

The Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, said President Buhari condoled with his extended family members on the demise of his niece, who left behind children and grandchildren.

Shehu said the deceased is also survived by several brothers and sisters, including Malam Mamman Daura, the President’s nephew who was in Daura to mourn with their family members.

President Buhari described the late Laraba as a “caring mother, full of life and witty who was very passionate about the welfare of her family.”

He regretted that ”Hajia Dauda’s passing away is saddening but Allah knows best. My condolences to all those she left behind. May Allah repose her soul.”
