The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has been subjected to mockery after making his first post on Twitter following the lifting of the ban by the government.

The Federal Government on Wednesday, lifted the ban on the bird app after 7 months of suspension.

The microblogging platform was banned after a post by the President was deleted from the platform for violating the company’s policy.

The government protested the action saying the platform is being used to undermine the sovereignty of Nigeria.

However, after months of controversy, the government announced the lifting of the suspension.

The development made some Nigerians on social media interpret the move as a preparation to use the platform for the political campaigns ahead of the 2023 general election.

The SSA to the President, Garba Shehu took to Twitter soon after the restoration of the services to welcome citizens back to the platform.

He also hailed the impact of the ban by his boss.

According to Garba Shehu@GarShehu, “Welcome back! Let me join fellow countrymen and women in welcoming the resolution of the impasse between the Federal Government of Nigeria and Twitter Inc., leading to the laying of  a “foundation for a mutually beneficial future with endless possibilities.

I join the leaders of government in appreciating all Nigerians, “especially the vibrant Nigerian youths who have borne with the long wait to resolve this impasse,” and as the government statement clearly says,  the gains made from this shared national sacrifice are immeasurable.

We hope that this be appreciated by all. The nation comes first. Once again, welcome back!
