Catholic Church Speaks on Sending Bishops to the Unveiling of APC Vice Presidential Candidate

"Gist"

The Catholic Church has reacted to the presence of some ‘bishops’ at the official unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the All Progressives Congress vice presidential candidate.

The church in its reaction described the bishops who attended the unveiling on Wednesday as fake.

The spokesman for the Catholic Church Headquarters in Abuja, Rev. Fr. Patrick Alumuku, in his reaction to the development said the bishops are not their representatives.

Alumuku noted that the way the bishops conducted themselves shows that they are fake and not Catholic Church officials.

Since Wednesday evening, news have been rife that the clerics were hired to attend the event to dowse the controversy about the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the ruling party.

While addressing newsmen on Wednesday, Alumuku said, “We have seen the photos circulating online, they are not Catholic bishops. The Catholic Church did not send any representation to the event held today by Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima.

“If you look at the manner the imposters dressed and conducted themselves, you will see they are not Catholic Church officials.”
