The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Callistus Onaga has banned Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka from all political comments, prophesies and activities.
Mbaka is particularly banned from releasing prophesies about candidates contesting political offices.
The action of the church follows his recent controversial comments around the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, the Federal Government and the Imo State Governor.
The fiery Fr Mbaka had, just like the time of the 2015 presidential elections, released prophesies about the gubernatorial election that saw the emgernece of Hope Uzodinma.
He also berated the current Buhari-led administration on its handling of the country’s insecurity. Mbaka, in addition hailed the activities of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for fighting for Ndigbo.
The decision of the Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Enugu also follows the near violent protest of members of the Adoration Ministry presided over by Fr Mbaka after his alleged disappearance from the church in mid-May, 2021.
The Bishop announced the conversion of Adoration Ministry to a ‘Chaplaincy’ under the Enugu Diocese and clarified that it will appoint a Chaplain and an Assistant Chaplain where need be.
The Catholic Diocese’s decision comes a few weeks after the Bishop ordered the closure of the Ministry for one month and asked Fr Mbaka to proceed on a retreat.
Callistus Valentine Onaga was born, September 29, 1958) and is the fifth Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Enugu.
