The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has called on Nigerians to support the policies of the bank in ensuring a stable financial system in the country.
This comes amidst reports that operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) invaded their headquarters on Monday.
The apex bank on Monday through the Director, Corporate Communications, Osita Nwanisobi in a statement stated its Governor, Godwin Emefilele has resumed duty after his annual vacation abroad.
Osita maintained that the CBN governor will remain committed to performing the task before him in line with his oath of office and the policy direction of the nation’s president, Muhammadu Buhari.
While not addressing the alleged invasion of the apex bank headquarters, Osita thanked the public for keeping faith in the bank.
Meanwhile, there are reports that (DSS) earlier today invaded the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
According to the Daily Nigerian, security operatives also took over the office of the embattled governor of the apex bank, Godwin Emefiele, who returned to the country in the early hours of Monday.
The DSS operatives arrived the CBN headquarters Monday noon with about 20 vehicles with armed personnel and invaded Emefiele’s office.
The operatives also barred all staff of the bank from gaining access to the office of the apex bank governor.
The Governor has been at loggerheads with the DSS over alleged terrorism financing
