Charly Boy Hints on Quitting His Marriage after 45 Years

Serial entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy aka Area Fada has hinted on quitting his marriage to his African/American wife, Diane, of 45 years.

Charly Boy noted that he has been trying to make his marriage work for 45 years but it gets harder with each try.

He took to his social media pages to state that he might return to bachelorhood after spending a such a long time in the union.

According to: “My People, If I tell una say, after over 45yrs of marriage to my wife, that I am going back to bachelorhood, what would you say?”

“I don talk say dis marriage of a thing just no easy. The longer you stay, the harder it gets. What should I do? I tire o.”

Commenting under his post, another Twitter user, @Po_li_cap_ , advised the singer to try settling the rift amicably with his wife.

However, Charly boy insisted that he does not have any issues with his wife and he was simply tired but that he is tired of all the hardworking needed to keep the union working.

Like anything else that is rewarding, we have to work at our marriages. And it’s OK if marriage is hard work!

The entertainer got married to his first wife Stella at a Catholic Church in Onitsha in 1974 when he was 19. The relationship produced one child.

The singer revealed that the marriage failed because he was underage when his mother got him a wife.

Charly Boy met Dianne, an African-American singer, in 1974 in a hair salon in Boston, U.S., where he had gone to make his hair.

In 1979 they got married. The couple renewed their vows in 2018.
