The residents of Chibok town have contributed money towards a ransom aimed at saving Pastor Bulus Yakuru who was kidnapped by Boko Haram.

Pastor Bulus Yakuru of the EYN Church of the Brethren was allegedly abducted on the 24th of December when Abubakar Shekau’s faction of Boko Haram stormed Temi village.

Yakuru has been in Boko Haram custody alongside at least 7 other abductees since then.

Chibok residents, church members, family and friends rallied round to beat the deadline given by the terrorists sect which expires within one week.

They demanded to be met by government within the period or the pastor will be killed.

The elders of the community are said to be looking for help to pass the contribution to Boko Haram saying that Pastor Yakuru’s family and church members are seriously distressed as a result of his disappearance.

The contributed money was confirmed by an elder in the community who said it was raised by stakeholders to save the pastor’s life.

According to him, “Before we saw that video, we had started to take action to contribute money together.

“We have raised a substantial amount of money as ransom for our beloved pastor. When we saw the video, it only added to our depression.

“We want to meet Shekau or his men and give them the money. Please, let them collect the ransom and spare Pastor Bulus.

“Anyone who can help us to reach out to Shekau and his camp should inform them that we have ransom to pay and we plead that Pastor Bulus is not killed after one week as they said.

“We have the ransom, we are read to pay it. Bulus wife has been in crisis. I still saw her last week and she has very serious depression.”
