A former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, has conceded defeat to the Enugu East senatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Kelvin Chukwu.
The latter polled 69,136 to beat Chimaroke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 48,701 votes.
In his reaction to the outcome of the poll, Chimaroke congratulated the Senator-elect for Enugu East District, Kelvin Chukwu.
In his congratulatory message, he said the outcome of the election reflected the wishes of the majority of the constituents.
He noted that the people have spoken and urged his supporters to remain calm and accept the outcome of the election in good faith.
He also wished the Labour Party senator-elect, a successful tenure in the upper legislative chamber.
Nnamani said: “The result of the election is in tandem with the rave of the moment in the South East zone who have identified with Labour Party. A contrary result would have negated the trend.
“I wish the Enugu East Senator-Elect a successful tenure in the upper legislative chamber.”
Kelvin replaced his brother, Oyibo Chukwu, who was gruesomely murdered a few days before the February 25th, 2023 presidential and national assembly elections.
