The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has authorised eateries, churches and mosques in the state to reopen.
In his speech monitored this afternoon, the governor said that Mosques are allowed to resume on Friday the 7th while Churches will reopen on Sunday the 9th of August.
He said this during the weekly press briefing and incident report on #COVID19 Saturday, 1st August, 2020.
Sanwo-Olu maintains that both worship centres must observe a 50% attendance capacity.
Worship centres who observe services on Saturdays were also authorised to resume with the same guidelines.
He also reiterated his advise that religious leaders must make available hand sanitisers, hand held thermometer checks and maintain social distancing.
The state governor added that eateries may reopen from the 14th of August.
In his words,
“Places of worship in Lagos will now be opened from Friday, August 7 for our Muslim worshipers and on Sunday, August 9 for our Christian worshippers.
“We will only be allowing 50% of their capacity at either the church or the mosque. Churches that have Saturday worship day will also be allowed to start holding their Saturday worship.
“We must reiterate that places of worship are only permitted to have their regular once in a week service on designated days.”
The governor aded that social clubs and recreational centres will be allowed to reopen with limited capacity with effect from the 14th of August.
In his words “In the same vein, social clubs and recreational centers will also open from August 14, in strict compliance with safety protocols and registration with Lagos State Safety Commission.
Clearance certificates to open are at this time being issued only to social clubs with registered trustees.
Restaurants can open for in-dining services from August 14, on the condition that they maintain 50 per cent capacity and obtain safety compliance certificate through the LSSC registration portal.
Public gatherings can now hold with a maximum of 50 persons for meetings, funerals and other social events.”
