Inspiration News - Women's Perspective

Mrs Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu became the 15th Lagos State First Lady exactly 12 months ago yesterday, 29th May, 2020.

Standing staunchly behind and beside her husband on the 29th of May, 2019, she silently raised her right hand to swear allegiance to God, the Governor and Lagosians. Her oath was to stand by him, behind him and with him to take Lagos State beyond the dreams of the average Lagosian.

Much of that has been checked and seen to have been achieved in her 12 months as the State’s First Lady.

She joined the Lagos State Public Service in 1994 and quickly rose through the ranks in medical practice to become the Chief Medical Director of the Harvey Road Medical Centre, Yaba.

She has also demonstrated the power of a virtuous cheerleader and wife. Not known to grant interviews, she insists that she prefers to operate from behind the scenes as she is not in competition with the Governor.

In her words, “I want all focus and attention to be on the Governor; I am not competing with him but complementing him to succeed.”

Nevertheless, Ibijoke Claudiana Sanwo-Olu has contributed to improving the lives of the elderly through her role as Chairman, Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO).

Her other achievements in the last 12 months include health interventions and protections for the lives of children, women and girls. As Chairman of COWLSO, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu is known to help women discover their hidden talents and empower them to develop their innate skills.

As a medical practitioner, she has been relentless in several health advocacy programs. With the assistance of the Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, not less than 21,000 Lagosians have benefited from free medical interventions. Out of this number, over 4,000 received free Hernia, Fibroid, Lipomas and breast lump surgeries.

Not unexpected, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu’s 12 Months as Lagos State Fist Lady has been marked silently except for her admirers who insist on sending her goodwill messages.
