News - Women's Perspective

Arise TV host, Rufai Oseni has expressed his views regarding the job status of the newly appointed Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa.

He spoke in reaction to the controversy surrounding her ministerial appointment of while currently undergoing the one-year mandatory National Youths Service Corps (NYSC).

The NYSC status of Musawa has remained an intense media discussion in the past few days following her swearing-in as one of the 45 ministers of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The management of the NYSC confirmed the claim of Musawa still undergoing her national youth service, saying the Minister did not complete her service when she was first mobilized for the scheme in 2003.

Amidst the controversies trailing the issue the presidency has remained mum on the subject.

However, some critics have said Musawa is not qualified to be appointed minister as a serving NYSC member.

Reacting to the development, Oseni, in a post via Twitter, noted that there is no problem with President Tinubu having a NYSC member as a minister.

He said that it is a double strike for Musawa to collect NYSC allowance and ministerial salary.

He tweeted, “If the president wants a NYSC member as Minister No problem but collecting alawe and Ministerial salary na double strike. Nigeria is a theatre of the absurd”
