Commissioner Deletes Deceptive Tweets on Kogi Palace Explosion

News - Women's Perspective

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo has deleted some tweets adjudged as deceptive in which he described the explosion that rocked the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland on Thursday morning was merely transformer sparks.

In an immediate reaction to the explosion, the Commissioner took to the micro-blogging site to say no explosion occurred and only one person was injured by the spark.

The tragic incident occurred in the Okene area of Kogi state on Thursday morning at a mosque close to the palace of the paramount ruler of Ebiraland, Ado Ibrahim in the Okenne Local Government Area of the state at a time President Muhammadu Buhari was being expected in the state to commission some projects.

Some persons were also reportedly killed by the explosion.

But in a series of tweets, the commissioner described reports of the explosion as a blatant lie.

He said it was a “mere transformer spark which injured one person”.

“Contrary to the blatant lie that there was a bomb explosion that killed three people in Okene, I wish to debunk the falsehood here.

It was a mere transformer spark which injured one person. Mr President is currently enjoying the hospitality of our people right there at Okene where he is commissioning life-touching projects, executed by Governor Yahaya Bello.

“Our people should ignore the rumour and savour the presence of our dear President. We are Kogi people. We are hospitable,” Fanwo wrote in now-deleted tweets.

Though the tweets have now been deleted, but not before it was captured. Below are screenshots of the Commissioner’s initial tweets.
