Sexually Suggestive dress, Rahama Sadau Risks Death Sentence

Controversial Bare-Back Dress by Muslim Actress Sparks Outrage

News - Women's Perspective

A Kannywood Muslim actress Rahama Sadau’s controversial bare-back dress has sparked outrage in Nigeria’s Northern Muslim community.

The actress wore the daring dress for a photoshoot which she posted on her social media pages.

The outrage that created the post caused her to delete the pictures and apologise in tears.

@Rahma_sadau had initially taken the backlash as unserious and made a follow-up post to describe how she felt about the comments on her page:

Sadly, soon afterwards, the reality of the outrage dawned on Rahama as the Inspector General of Police instructed the Kaduna State police Commissioner to ensure that the saga did not become a security issue.

Among those who rained insults on the actress over the controversial dress were fellow Kannywood actors.

A human rights activist, Alhaji Lawal Mohammed Gusau petitioned the Rahama Sadau to the IGP alleging that she had insulted the prophet.

Gusau advised the IGP that the actress’s action could lead to a break down of law and order as Muslim youths and clerics were spoiling for a showdown against her.

He urged the Inspector General of Police to ensure that the situation does not degenerate considering that Nigeria has hardly recovered from the violence that greeted the #EndSARS protests.

The Muslim Arewa youths have not, however, reacted to Rahama’s apology but it is hoped that it will be taken in good faith.
