A Youth Corper identified as Yanusa Ranatu has delivered a baby boy while undergoing orientation in Bayelsa State.
Reports say the female Corper from Kwara State only just concluded her registration at the Kaiama orientation camp when she went into labour.
She was immediately taken to the State Referral Hospital, Kaiama in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.
The State Coordinator, Mrs Ojugo Iyowuna who led a delegation of key camp officials to visit Ranatu in the hospital, presented her with the needed items to support her and her new baby.
The Corper praised the NYSC for its quick intervention in coming to her aid. She added that the scheme is truly a caring one that has changed many lives.
Replying, the state Coordinator thanked God for the safe delivery of the mother.
She appreciated the doctorin-charge, Dr Mbanusi Chiebonam Clara who is also a serving Corper as well as all the nurses who attended to them.
Iyomuwa commended them for their resilience during the delivery process.
There have been dissenting views about the need to sustain the National Youth Service. This particularly due to the dangers posed by insecurities resulting in kidnappings and killings across the country.
