Bello was accused by his wife of infidelity, a development that got her threathening his life several times.
A day before his murder, family members were at their residence to settle one of such quarrels.
A video shows the moment the death sentence was passed on her in January, 2020.
Her appeal sought for fair hearing of her case. However, a three-man panel dismissed it for lacking in merit.
Sanda’s late husband was a cousin of former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Haliru Bello.
Sanda’s lawyer said she will take the case to the supreme Court.
A number of people advise that it is best to walk out of a marriage if the conditions become unbearable rather than enduring and hitting the limit.
However, even if the Supreme Court upholds the judgement of the lower court, Sanda may remain in jail for life if the governor of the state does not sign off her death sentence.
Many such cases abound with very religious governors who believe they would not endorse anyone’s death as only God has such a decision.
Mohammed Oyelade@MMOyelade· “Most don’t even know it is one thing for the Appellate Courts to affirm the death sentence of Maryam Sanda. It is another thing for the Government to sign her death warrant. Without the signature, her death sentence is commuted to life imprisonment.”
Chukwuebuka@Ebuka_GCFR· “Please let’s learn to work out of any marriage that doesn’t favor us, be it abusive or cheating. If you can’t handle it quietly pack your bag and leave. Let’s learn from Maryam Sanda case. Seeing her trending again just changed my mood this evening”
