A Covenant University Lecturer has forced a final year student of the university to shave his beard before attending to his online project defence.
In a video trending tops on the the bird app Twitter today, the student named Ibukunoluwa Aina was denied the opportunity to undertake the academic exercise by his project supervisor.
Aina was ordered to go clear off his beard before his project defence could commence. He had grown the facial beard during the #COVID19Nigeria; and looked unkempt according to the lecturer.
While others in his group were allowed to carry on he was asked to return to do his defence when he complies.
Meanwhile, earlier in the year, the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) in the United States of America revealed that certain type of beards can encourage exposure to Corona Virus.
It warned that facial hair is capable of interfering with face masks and respirators. The centre therefore recommended that moustache and hair that is capable of infringing on the respirator sealing surface should be avoided.
It also recommended the kinds of beards that are compatible with masks and respirators and so, help in the prevention of the spread of the disease.
