A former Military Administrator of Akwa Ibom State, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga has died of covid19.
Reports say the former 68-year-old Air Force Officer died on Christmas Eve, 24th December of complications arising from the dreaded disease.
Prior to the tragic incident, he was the Chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).
Idongesit Nkanga was appointed Military Administrator of Akwa Ibom State by former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babaginda, a position he held between 1990 and 1992.
A PDP Chieftain, he was the governorship candidate of the defunct Nigeria Democratic Party (NDP) in the 2003 general elections.
He served as Director-General of the campaign organisations of Governor Godswill Akpabio in 2011 and Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2015 and 2019.
Nkanga joined the board of the Cooperative Development Bank and later appointed Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Airport Implementation Committee in 2007.
In 2019, the former Military Administrator was appointed as a member of the South-South Elders and Leaders Forum in January 2010.
