Popular Cubana Nightclub Shut Down by Lagos State Government

The Lagos State government last night, shut down the Cubana nightclub and other public facilities that defied official protocols on the prevention of covid19.

Senior Special Assistant to the governor on New Media, Gawat Jubril confirmed the development and added that clubbers were ordered out of the premises by security agents.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu issued fresh directives over the weekend banning street parties, music concerts and nightclubs.

He also reviewed the activities of worship centres, all in a bid to stem the spiralling spread of coronavirus.

The disease has seen increased new cases and fatalities in Lagos State.

The NCDC also reports that Nigeria is experiencing a second wave of the disease.

On Saturday night, the State Task Force led by the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu stormed the Ikeja GRA complex of Cubana grills and nightclub and shut it down for defying the ban.

The nightclub daily hosts local and international celebrities. It is reported that Nigeria’s popular musician, Davido visited the night club last Saturday.

Reports say the celebrities were at the opening of the newly built XShrine Nightclub when the security agents arrived.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was last weekend, diagnosed with covid19. His close aides say he is responding to treatment and in stable condition.
