Capt Jamil Abubakar, son-in-law to the richest man in Africa, Aluko Dangote has clarified his initial comments on the punishment for blasphemy.
He said he was completely misunderstood and taken out of context. However, he takes responsibility for a poorly constructed headline on his social media message.

Abubakar’s comment on the punishment by death meted out against Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, elicited condemnation from members of the public.
His tweet: Capt. Jamil MD Abubakar “SkyDanfoDriver”@CaptJamyl· Religion is a temper flaring zone. I know emotions are running wild. A lot of people read my tweets without understanding me, which is normal. “The headline” didn’t help either. Have never advocate for one’s life to be taken or people taking matters into their own hands.
The law exists for such which I pointed out. Sadly we are here. I’m happy that punch has an “updated” & “Editors note” 2 capture this. I sincerely meant no harm. Everything was taking out of context. I pray that peace, which Islam greatly preaches will prevail in our lands.
He pointed his critics to the Punch who retracted its initial publication about his comments after it got a clearer view of his intentions.
A law firm, Senocean Law Practice has also posted a rebuttal on behalf Jamil Abubakar.
The firm stated that its client has made clarifications on his intentions and his comments and would not hesitate to seek legal redress on anyone found “propagating the lies as it would not hesitate to take immediate legal action forthwith.”
