Protesters have defied the broadcast given by President Bola Tinubu urging them to suspend the demonstrations.
The hungry and agree citizens on Monday, gathered at public places in Abuja and other parts of Nigeria for the 5th day.
Reacting to the order, a half-dressed man on Monday stormed Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota, Lagos State, to continue the demonstration in the ongoing protest against hardship and bad governance in Nigeria.
The protesters expressed their displeasure with President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast on Sunday, considering it rather unfortunate that it took Tinubu three days of protest to address the country.
In a viral video on social media, the half-dressed man among the protesters was heard chanting in Yoruba, “We are angry, we are hungry.” Many claimed they were offered N5,000 each to shelve the protest but they refused.
Juwon Sanyaolu, tweeting as #AyowoleSanyaolu, wrote, “Protest has started in Ojota; if you are still home, you are wrong!”
Footages from Abuja allege the more policemen were deployed to the streets overnight while curfews have been declared in Jos North and Bukuru.
The nationwide protest highlights the frustration among Nigerians concerning national issues.
