The Ministry of Primary Education in Delta State has shut down Great Leaders International School, located at Ime-Obi in Agbor, Ika Local Government Area of the state following the alleged defilement of a 4-year-old pupil by the proprietor of the institution, Innocent Ezeukwu.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, who confirmed the development in a statement described the act as “wicked and barbaric.”
Ogboro wondered why a teacher who is supposed to be a key player in the upbringing of learners in his care should carry out such a dehumanising act.
“The state police command had already swung into action by arresting the suspect, the proprietor of the school , who will face deep consequences of his action to serve as a deterrent to others,” the statement read.
The statement clarified that the Great Leaders International School was one of the unauthorised schools that had long been shut down by the state primary education ministry.
The State Government also warned parents to desist from going to schools to molest teachers for disciplining their children.
