The Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa announced this morning that his daughter has tested positive to covid19
According to the former senator, he is not only sending the young lady to isolation, himself and his wife will also go into isolation as required by health advisories.
In a post monitored on his facebook page this morning, the Governor said that, “Earlier today, Edith and I received the news that one of our daughters has tested positive for COVID19. Hence, in-line with laid-out procedures, we are both going into isolation for the next 14 days.
“We will continue to keep you all updated.”
Delta State’s covid19 numbers had remained fairly low until yesterday, 25th June when it suddenly hit the 3 digit number of 106 in just one single day.
The state now follows closely with Lagos, the epicentre of the pandemic. Lagos has consistently topped the chart in the covid19 scourge with 9,482 cases since the index case was reported in February.
Lagos is followed by the FCT with 1,656 while Delta State now ranks 8th with yesterday’s spike making it hit 715 confirmed cases.
Delta State governor’s daughter is not the only high ranking state resident that has covid19. The state government reported on the 21st of June that the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Chiedu Ebie and the Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu also tested positive to COVID19.
