A diesel tanker explosion occurred in the very early hours of Tuesday at Egbeda, Alimosho Local Government Area in of Lagos causing confusion and panic.
Reports say however, that first responders were promptly at the scene to contain the raging inferno which occurred at Banire Bus Stop, Egbeda, inward Ikotun.
The accident was confirmed by the Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu. According to him, the explosion happened at about 01:18am.
He added that the tanker was laden with diesel when it exploded in the middle of the night. He could however, not ascertain if buildings around were touched at the time of his update.
PM News quotes the LASEMA DG as saying that, “Investigation conducted by the team upon arrival at the scene revealed a fully loaded tanker with diesel had a break failure, lost control and fell off the road leading to an explosion and fire outburst.
“However, no casualties recorded nor any properties razed in the unfortunate inferno.
“The fire has been successfully subdued by men of the LASEMA LRU Fire Service and the LASG Fire Service while dampening down is ongoing.”
