A property traced to Diezani Alison-Madueke and which was forfeited to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been handed over to the Lagos State Government.
The mansion was found to be a proceed of corruption by the former Petroleum Minister. It will now be used as an isolation centre for covid19 patients.
The Lagos Zonal Head of EFCC, Mohammed Rabo said during the hand-over ceremony today, 15th May that the gesture is part of the commission’s contribution to the fight against the dreaded covid19 pandemic.
The forfeited property located at 135 Awolowo Raod, Ikoyi consists of a block of 6 flats with 3 bedrooms and a boys’ quarter each. It was seized by the EFCC after a Lagos State Federal High Court ruling in 2017.
According to Rabo, “in addition to our mandate to fight economic and financial crimes, the Commission is committed and ready to render essential services that may be required of it in the fight against #COVID19.
The EFCC zonal boss added that “Lagos State should not hesitate to call on the commission anytime the need for such essential service arises.”
The property traced to Diezani is one of so many scattered around the world. She is reported to currently be living in the UK while many more proceeds of crime continued to be traced to her and her associates.
