Digital Revolution: Channel Your Energy to Good Causes – FG

#Endsars News - Women's Perspective

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Interior has asked Nigerian youths “to take advantage of the digital revolution to channel their energy to good causes.”

This comes after a seamlessly organised nationwide #EndSARS protest, using various digital platforms.

The youths maintained throughout the protests that they had no leaders yet every detail of the protest was diligently attended to using the skills of each protester pro bono.

The only leader the youths had was the digital tools they had in their palms, the smart phones for which voluntary donors ensured data never ran out.

Among the protesters were sanitary workers who ensured the venues were left spick and span.

Youth doctors were on hand to attend to the sick. Psychiatrists were not left out as they took on those going through depression for lack of employment or basic social amenities.

Miscreants had no need to continue in their trade as they confirmed that they clearly saw hope with each day’s happenings.

They were fed free of charge, danced and mingled freely with star artistes, actors and actresses and reassured that indeed hope was here.

Volunteer highly skilled young lawyers were also on hand to deal with cases of human rights abuses.

All donations and tasks were professionally accounted for without qualms and without demanding or expecting compensation.

Every detail was coordinated to the admiration of the entire world. Little wonder the new American immigrant visa restrictions exempted Nigerians, unlike in the past when the country’s citizens were top on the list of restricted migrants.

The Nigerian Government certainly also confirms the potentials of its youths.

They acknowledge the potential of its younger generation using digital platforms.

In a lengthy publication this morning, the Minister of Interior stressed that “The youths are the pride and glory of any people. We must understand that youths are a unique demography.”

“Today’s youth are a peculiar breed. They are a new generation of the social media and the power of ideas and intellect.”

“…sharing so as to nourish human capacity for the socio-economic development of the country. Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (@raufaregbesola) made the call today in Lagos during a Stakeholders Engagement on Internal Security and Conflict Resolution in Nigeria.

“In his speech, titled, “Lagos is the destiny of our race,” Aregbesola described the youth as the pride and glory of any people. “The youths are the pride and glory of any people. We must understand that youths are a unique demography.

People under the age of 25 constitute 45% of global population, while they are 60% in Africa and the Middle East. Today’s youth are a peculiar breed. They are a new generation of the social media and the power of ideas and intellect.

“They appear more intelligent and far more enterprising than previous generations, the deployment of their intelligence is a different matter; which we must all seek to re-channel through positive modelling and gainful employment.

“The digital revolution has increased young people’s capacity to bring about positive social change. ICT gives them the tools to learn new skills, to share knowledge and to nourish human capacity.”
