Popular Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad Gumi has cautioned those asking that the President sack the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami.

There have been calls in recent times for President Buhari to sack Pantami for backing terrorism in the past.

However, the presidency, speaking through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said that the Minister has apologised for his views on Taliban, Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram.

Speaking during an interview with Roots TV, Sheik Gumi warned that Nigerians will regret it if Isa #Pantamis is sacked from office.

The Kaduna-based Islamic scholar added that the minister is is a nation builder who was working to stabilise the government and get other youths like him to support the government.

He requested those pressing for his removal to “Show me one person he has killed. He has not killed anybody. He has not ordered the killing of anybody. The man is stabilising a government among a section of youths whose we want to come and join in nation-building.”

Gumi added that Pantami is a victim of wicked campaigns to removed him from office.

“And you people are fighting them. No You should get more people like Pantami and put them in power. Don’s remove him, you’ll regret it,” he added.
