Former Presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has made a passionate appeal to the handlers of Salle, the orange hawker with an angelic voice. He called on them not not take away her “unspoilt innocence.”
One month ago, 17-year-old Salle was found by a couple, Mr and Mrs Ejiofor after a hot and gruelling hawking day on the wild streets of Owerri.
Exhausted from the day’s toil, Salle caught the couple’s attention with her amazing voice as she kept crooning on freestyle that she will someday “be fine.”
Captivated by her voice, the Ejiofors who sought to know if she had a manager. Salle had no idea what a manager meant for her and so did not answer.
They posted her videos on the internet and instantly, interested public requested the teenager’s whereabouts with the aim of sponsoring and helping her boost her unusual talent.
Prominent brands started falling over each other to find her and sign her up. Salle has now been found and snapped up by music producers and managers. Unfortunately, her “unspoilt innocence” and rustic look have been taken off of her.
Camera men, fashion brands and makeup artists transformed the street hawker to the typical A-list billboard artiste.
Her transformation has wowed many but Reno Omokri is not impressed. He cautions that her talent, voice and not her looks should be the focus.
“May God bless and prosper her. I prefer her former look. Her talent is her voice, and her grass to grace story is her appeal. I hope those managing her don’t strip her of that undefiled innocence we saw barely a month ago.
“That unspoilt, pure innocence is her ticket to the top! There are so many artistes with sex appeal. That field is crowded. Adele set the record for longest-charting album by a female solo artist without losing her innocence. And I am confident Salle can go far with it.
