The founder of Dowen College has stepped down as the board of governors announces a change in the school’s management strategy.
This comes 5 months after 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni, a student of the school died under very controversial circumstances.
In a statement released on Thursday evening, the management announced that the Founder and Chairman, Board of Governors, Dr O Olumide Philips who “worked tirelessly over the years to develop outstanding children both in and out of the school” is retiring along with the entire members of the board.
The statment added that the new management comprises much younger “seasoned professionals who will run with the vision, leadership, passion commitment and values they have worked rigorously to establish.”
They added that the school will engage more with parents, students and stakeholders and also implement the recommendations of the Lagos State Ministry of Education to “implement structural changes to the hostels and school facilities.”
